Yeah. The problem is not, I think, the need for better teachers. Less mandated testing - and mandated passing - would do the trick.

But, overall the teaching profession is doomed. Those seeking to control; be recognized; and have power become teachers, lawyers and journalists.

We did better before Department of Education existed (prior to Carter).

Get rid of No Child Left Behind. Attach the money to the kid, instead of the district. That alone will help with scores. The more kids in your school the more you and your teachers will get paid. Also, get rid of these laws mandating kids go to school until X years old. Free will is a beautiful thing. If you want to drop out, then by all means.

I gave him a young and vibrant too. We have several charter schools in W Michigan and they're doing well. The public schools are better than they used to be but that's not saying much.

Being that I live in the NE corner of a small rural township that contracts its lone assigned deputy from the Livingston county and volunteer fire from a city in another, we could probably use a bit more of a police and fire presence.

Our local school system is over staffed and under utilized, so probably do not need any more teachers.

The only public sector employees we need are more corrections officers. 124-1 ratio is not a good one to have.
