Full title of thread: Obama Asks People Getting Married To Forgo Gifts, Ask Their Guests To Donate To His Campaign Instead…
Sorry if covered elsewhere in here.
You can even register your wedding on his campaign website. Could he be any more pompous?
Can you believe the desperation of this latest attempt to raise funds?
They must really be worried. Looks good on them! ...

Wow, who knew the depths of narcissism run this deep?
Liberalism is just communism sold by the drink.

Weekend Update AnchorOur top story tonight: The Obama campaign has announced a bridal registry for persons seeking to forego wedding gifts in favor of contributions to the campaign. Here to explain this policy is Obama campaign spokesperson Tommy Flanagan.
Tommy FlanaganThanks, for having me on the show.
WUAOur pleasure. Is it true that the Obama campaign is actually setting up a registry for couples to solicit donations in lieu of gifts?
TFOh, absolutely. Our polling indicates that there are lots of relatives of soon-to-be-married couples who would love to make a donation instead of picking out some bourgeois silverware or place settings. Why, the members of Democratic Underground alone are constantly whining about how many relatives they have who don't share their progressive views, and this provides them with the opportunity to really stick it to them and do a good deed at the same time. Our only regret is that we didn't think of this before Kwanzaa.
TFBesides, lots of same-sex couples wouldn't even be able to get married if it weren't for President Obama's courageous stand on gay marriage. The least that they can do is channel some of that wedding loot into the campaign.
WUABut doesn't this smack of desperation?
TFNo! Of course not. Compared to our raffling off Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour, this is nothing. That was desperate. This is just tacky.
WEUWell, thanks for clearing that up.--Odysseus

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

A new low, even for Obama
Register with Obama 2012
Got a special milestone or event coming up?
Instead of another gift card you’ll forget to use, ask your friends and family for something that will go a little further: a donation to Obama for America. Register your next celebration—whether it’s a birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, wedding, or anniversary—with the Obama campaign. It’s a great way to show your support for a cause that’s important to you on your big day.
Just log in or sign up to build and customize your page—and congratulations!
Is he that hard up for campaign cash that he is asking special occasion celebrants to have their gift givers hand over their hard earned cash to him?
It does make it easier figuring out which events to attend. If I get a request to donate to Obama instead of a gift, making their occasion a political statement instead of a celebration, I'll find something better to do like cleaning the dog pen.

This is desperation. He isn't getting the big bucks he did last time.
President Obama’s re-election campaign is straining to raise the huge sums it is counting on to run against Mitt Romney, with sharp dropoffs in donations from nearly every major industry forcing it to rely more than ever on small contributions and a relative handful of major donors.

From Wall Street to Hollywood, from doctors and lawyers, the traditional big sources of campaign cash are not delivering for the Obama campaign as they did four years ago. The falloff has left his fund-raising totals running behind where they were at the same point in 2008 — though well ahead of Mr. Romney’s — and has induced growing concern among aides and supporters as they confront the prospect that Republicans and their “super PAC” allies will hold a substantial advantage this fall.
