If the health care law is killed on Monday, how will it affect Obama's re-election chances?
I would expect Romney's numbers to swell if that happens.
It gives the GOP a huge publicity hammer to smash Obama with.
Of course if Romney wins we must accept an extreme right wing government for the rest of our lives since he will probably make one or two SCOTUS appointments that will lock in a far right court for decades to come.
Government by the corporations and for the corporations for ever and ever, amen.
I personally will be surprised if the health care law survives because i believe the court's Republican bias overrides consideration of true constitutionality.
I'm feeling kind of bleak at the moment.emulatorloo (23,144 posts)
1. Word is Obama will run against the partisan Supreme Court
If the healthcare law is struck down, Obama will use it as a campaign issue.
From an article I read on DU.
Supreme Court is pretty unpopular with people these days.

It will be a huge win for the American people and the SCOTUS' polling numbers will be much higher.

It can't be good for Obama, though it might help turn out the die-hard Socialist vote for him.
Running against a partisan Supreme Court? ...Along with blaming Bush for everything bad that's happened, ever, and then blaming a 'Do-nothing Congress' (Which is actually his dog Reid making the Senate do nothing), that should be red meat for some PAC attack ads about Obama's inability to either accomplish anything or accept any personal responsibilty for his failures.

The only real question is whether the alternative and paid media are strong enough to counter the mainstream media. That's the real battlefield. The good news is that the big guns of the leftist media are firing blanks. NBC News, and its subsidiary, MSNBC, have become so blatantly partisan that they are laughingstocks, even among their fellow progressives. Dan Rather did tremendous damage to CBS News' credibility. CNN's ratings are in the toilet, and their on-air personalities continue to embarrass themselves. These used to be the broadcast MSM flagships, and they are listing badly. Their high watermark was the 2008 election, but that was their Pearl Harbor, and this election has the potential to be our Midway. As Yamamoto said, they were able to run wild for a while, but they cannot win.--Odysseus
