#1 Post your projects here

Whether it's a garden, a crafts project or any decorating ideas, here's the place to post them. I'm not crafty, can't sew at all, but decided to recover an art deco old dressing table stool that I had purchased some time ago at a consignment shop in St Louis.
The curved wood piece started out silver, with an old gold finish showing in spots. Then I painted it with a chrome paint (was trying for a silver effect). That didn't look so hot. Then I painted it gloss white and upholstered the seat with a phony black leather (naugahyde).
I got the idea from a sheet set I purchased from Crate & Barrel, the Marimekko pattern. I bought a king sized sham and used the top fabric to upholster the seat. It wasn't heavy duty enough, so I bought a clear plastic material to cover. Here's the pic, why I haven't been posting too much the last few days.

Here's another pic of the stool in its natural setting, under the vanity thing that's between the two cabinets in the bathroom.

I've done some (dare I say it) gorgeous knitting projects, but I've never known how to post pictures here.

I'm not good at crafts and such. I used to do counted cross stitch when I was in college, but I can afford to buy my friends gifts these days.
When we went through my grandparents' house in April, my cousin's wife and I found a whole bunch of old pillow cases, doilies, and other things that my grandma had embroidered, which was pretty cool. I took a bunch of them with me, and now have them scattered around my house.

I'm not crafty at all, but I was quite proud of my 1950s kitchen cabinet restoration. I'll try and find a photo of it.

Nice work on that stool SLW. I'd post pics of my Warhammer 40,000 miniatures I've painted but I don't know if they'd fit in this forum considering the name of it.

That stool is cute. I did latch-hook in the 70s, cross-stitch and some sewing in the 80s and raised kids in the 80s/90s.. I have had arthritis for a long time and that kept me from doing or even attempting many crafty things. I live vicariously through others on this one.

I totally suck at crafts, but I love looking at what other people can do. That stool is really nicely done!

I used to do cross stitch, but haven't for years. I'm not very crafty. When I look at HGTC, I marvel at people taking a whole room out of their house for craft projects. I don't have the patience. One of my neighbors is lending me her sewing machine, as I want to just stitch 3 sides of 2 squares of fabric to make a pillow. I'm not sure how long it's going to take, because haven't put thread on a bobbin since junior high home ec, and that's a long time ago. She's never used her machine, so this is going to be funny. She offered to sell it to me, but I only need it to sew one pillow.
