An old baseball

looks like cardinal 1950-1953? not sure.
I photographed it for a friend that needed picture for Christie's to use to give her some idea of the value. I bet it's 1952.

Not going to be worth all that much because many of the signatures are faded or worn off from extended handling as well as a few stains on the ball. As for the era, I recognize a few of the name. Enos Slaughter, Harry "The Hat" Walker, Red Schoendienst, Joe Garagiola are a few names I can make out. Some of these players didn't play past 1952(Red Munger is another name I was able to see) and he left in the middle of the '52 season. I don't see Stan Musial, Dick Sisler, Harry "Peanuts" Lowrey, on the ball but since Harry Walker is, it dismisses 1952. (Now I'm enjoying investigating this) Got it. 1950. Johnny Lendell is pic #2 and only played for the Cards in 1950. Be that as it may, without Musial, the ball is almost worthless.

Edit: Looking further, I don't believe this ball was from a singular year. There are names on it that I don't see on the 1950 roster like Terry Moore. Moore didn't play past 1948 but given the fact that Lindell only played in 1950 leads me to believe that these signatures were picked up over a period of years.

Her mother bought it for her at a game sometime early 50's, I told her the max would be 300 probably more like 150 and would be worth more to keep. Collectors want things clean and unhandled.

He still has his sense of humor and is a cool guy. It probably would be worth more in St Louis than in other parts of the country. If she looks up the Cards website, there are phone #'s that maybe she could call and get a sense of its value.

Stan the Man doesn't play the usual games. He signs everything without charging. I've got a couple things that he's signed, but not sure where to find them since my moves twice in the last 7 years. He's a sweet man. He carries little postcards around now that he's older (sadly I think he's suffering from Alzheimers now) and hands the previously signed cards to anyone requesting an autograph.
