I'll probably never get over the bad taste he has left from his years and years of opposing conservatism, making alliances with the left and pulling the GOP even further leftward. Senior or senile he'll never have any serious respect from me (in the political arena)... except for his military service.

    I wouldn't necessarily vote for him in a primary against a conservative, but the man endured things on behalf of this country that we cannot imagine.

    McCain basically was and is a JFK Democrat in all his political positions. He's a man who has long out-lived his time. I think the reason he is a Republican has more to do with chance than analysis.

    I agree. He reminds me a lot of Arlen Specter (who finally got honest and switched to D) in that he worries a lot about crossing the aisle, getting along, being nice etc. It seems like the only thing he won't compromise on is national security, but other than that he keeps you guessing.

    He still would have been better than Obama.
