How goofy do you have to be to think DU EVER! was representative of America?

Perhaps provincial rather than goofy. When you live in a major city and literally everyone you know from the plumber to the priest, from the guy who delivers babies to the guy who delivers pizza is a far left of center liberal then it's easy to imagine that the world looks like it does from your window. I run into this a lot with black people and Mexicans/Mexican-Americans: they look out their window and have no idea of the actual composition of the country.
But what that DUer doesn't seem to realize is that there has indeed been a shift, and the urban native born population is shifting on issues such as immigration, welfare, and Second Amendment. I have met a number of younger people over the years who don't think much of religion, who don't care about abortion, who aren't prejudiced against homosexuals, and who don't conform to what a number of conservatives around here think defines conservatism; but they are indeed concerned about individual rights, taxes, regulations, etc... Unfortunately, many of them also don't believe in zoning, code enforcement, valid social expectations, civic duty, etc...
