Just another Chicago tactic to silence the opposition....

It is an AP story so I can't post a sniplet but the link is here.

From the article, it doesn't seem that Adelson himself is the target of the investigation, though.

It's a drug dealer using casinos to launder his money. I think this is a pretty common practice, in places where casinos are legal. I'm pretty sure it happens in the Detroit casinos and in the Indian casinos. The only way that Adelson is involved is that he owns the casino in question, and the feds have to get the casino's records to prosecute. It's still the drug dealers they are after.

I'm kind of neutral on gambling, overall. It's not something I enjoy, other than the occasional Mega Millions ticket. Casino gambling, despite it's glamorous portrayal on tv and in the movies (Bond movies come to mind), attracts the criminal element. In Detroit, it was approved when Dennis Archer was mayor. Archer was a pretty honest politician, by Detroit standards. Unfortunately, he was no longer mayor by the time the casinos opened, and that mayor was probably the most corrupt person (Kwame) to ever hold that office, which is saying something.
