GOP-led House Oversight Committee to file contempt suit against AG Eric Holder
(CBS News) CBS News has learned that the House Oversight Committee expects to file a civil contempt suit against Attorney General Eric Holder Monday. The lawsuit is to try to force Holder to release documents from the Fast and Furious gunwalking operation.
The Republican-led House of Representative voted to hold Holder in contempt on June 28 for failing to turn over thousands of pages of subpoenaed documents. The Justice Department has said it is withholding documents under White House executive privilege.
Seventeen Democrats voted with 238 Republicans in the 255-67 vote for contempt. >>>
The contempt vote had two possible tracks for enforcement: criminal and civil. But shortly after the House vote, the Department of Justice announced it would not pursue a criminal case against its own Attorney General and did not believe any crime had been committed. The civil lawsuit expected to be filed Monday would ask a federal judge to order the Justice Department to turn over the documents.
During Operation Fast and Furious, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms allowed thousands of weapons to fall into the hands of traffickers for Mexican drug cartels. Documents sought by Congress include internal emails and memoranda regarding a now-discredited letter to Congress from the Justice Department that denied any "gunwalking" had occurred. Nearly a year later, the Justice Department told Congress the letter was incorrect and that gunwalking had, indeed, gone on but that Holder knew nothing of it at the time.

They expect a federal judge to stand up to these thugs after all the strong arm tactics this regime has set against the judiciary? We've been down this road before. I'm not holding my breath. Otherwise I expect another "compromise".
I hope he gets Sheriff Joe to serve him.
Republicans are playing by the rules while fighting a mafia crime family without ethics.
Heres a scenerio: They sue, Holder & co stalls, 0bama obviously protects the AG with 'Ex Privy' sanctions. The Dems lose the election, but before Zippy leaves office he pardons Holder of any wrong doing and that's that. Romney as President appoints a new AG, the Republican congress and Senate are so happy to be back in charge they say, 'Let by-gones be by-gones'. As usual, you can expect the GOP to totally wimp out to the Dems.
We desperately need to vote tea party conservatives in to replace the likes of Boehner etc.

I hope they throw Holder in jail.
Absolutely. Meanwhile we have been privy to witness that all three branches of government have been compromised and have strayed far beyond the original intent of the framers. This government has virtually perpetuated its own elite ruling class.
Holder is emboldened by precedent. Janet Reno was guilty of wholesale obstruction of justice and unprecedented corruption, and John Ashcroft let her go. Holder saw her get away with it, and now he expects the same.
The guard rails are almost gone. Most of this would not have been possible w/o a (more or less) supportive opposition party in congress. Just 4 more years ...
