    1821 - Juan O'Donoju met with Agustín de Iturbide in Córdoba and signed a treaty granting Mexico independence from Spain.

    1854 - The postmaster of Brushy Creek, TX, just north of Austin, changed the town’s name to Round Rock.

    1882 - In Tom Green County, the town of Ben Ficklin was destroyed by a flood. Sixty-five people were drowned.

    2001 - In McAllen, TX, Bridgestone/Firestone agreed to settle out of court and pay a reported $7.5 million to a family in a rollover accident in their Ford Explorer.
