Even Barack Obama, who opposed the Iraq troop surge, has finally acknowledged its success. But some of his fellow Democrats in Congress apparently remain unconvinced. Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin teamed up to block a vote on a bipartisan resolution "recognizing the strategic success of the troop surge in Iraq" and thanking our men and women in uniform for their efforts.

By late 2006, Iraq was gripped by sectarian chaos. Insurgents and death squads were killing nearly 3,000 civilians per month, and coalition forces were sustaining more than 1,200 attacks per week. On January 10, 2007, President Bush announced the new counterinsurgency strategy that included deploying five additional Army brigades and two Marine battalions to Iraq.

Under General David Petraeus, who relinquished command of U.S. forces in Iraq on Tuesday, sectarian bloodshed has almost entirely abated, daily attacks have fallen to 25 from a high of 180 in June 2007, and overall violence has declined by more than 70%. In July, U.S. combat deaths were lower than in any month since the beginning of the war. All of the troops sent to Iraq as part of the surge have now returned home and are not being replaced.

Citing General Petraeus by name, the resolution, which is sponsored by Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman and Republican Lindsey Graham, "commends and expresses the gratitude to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces for the service, sacrifices, and heroism that made the success of the troop surge in Iraq possible."

I'd like to see Harry Reid hide behind D.C. police when an entire Marine Regiment rolls up on his punk ass. F*** Reid, Pelousy, Durbin, Biden, Shumer, Feinstein, Boxer, Murtha & Obama. Get out & vote for men like Bill Russell over Murtha in Pa in November, shut these idiots down. & even though I don't agree with him on a lot, God Bless Joe Liberman. One of the only Democrats with a spine and a brain these days. We let our country and our politicians sh*t all over our Vietnam Veterans, don't let them do it to our men & women again.

Here's the thing that I don't get: When a woman tells Joe Biden that she doesn't want higher taxes, he tells her that it's time to be patriotic, but when congress has a chance to vote on a non-binding, absolutely toothless resolution that does nothing but thank us for going to war, they run for the hills. Funny what Democrats consider patriotic, isn't it?

We need to show more sympathy for these people.
* They travel miles in the heat.
* They risk their lives crossing a border.
* They don't get paid enough wages.
* They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do.
* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.
* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day ~ every day.

I'm not talking about illegal Mexicans ~ I'm talking about our troops! Doesn't it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegal's, but don't support our troops, and are even threatening to defund them?

Don't worry Sir, I'd never advocate something like turning my back on the duty I signed up for. I'm just advocating a huge protest by every Armed Forces person on active duty & veteran who's just fed up with these people. Nothing I've read in Marine Corps Orders says I can't exercise my 1st amendment right. I know we can't bash our Commander in Chief...but Congressmen are different.

Who do you think they are supporting in this election?

And I would argue those traitors are BOs biggest supporters. The flag burning hippies are the ivory tower elitsts, professors and the like that dump the most time and money into the BO campaign.

And just remember, he who holds the gold holds the power. In other words, BO will work for the people that give him the most money.
