six times as much money to Obama's presidential campaign as they have to McCain's."
Can someone explain to me how instigating a war and getting soldiers killed makes you more of a soldier's friend than not doing that? Soldiers who actually are abroad don't seem to agree with you on that. ;)
(Also, note how McCain got $500 on average and Obama $390, and that they only tracked donations over $200.)
Finally, any resolution regarding the success of sending 30.000 troops to a country of 27 million (a hilarious idea) should instead thank the Mahdi army and their buddies. Who would have guessed that unarmed Sunnis would be driven from their neighbourhoods by Al-Sadr and co? Anyone wanna guess how the Armenian Genocide started?* Hey, and when you've ethnically cleansed a neighbourhood, people who don't dig the whole messianistic imam thing stop getting killed... what a surprise! Finally, it is truly shocking to see that people whose country and lives you've ruined, and whose jobs you have taken, stop shooting at you when you pay them $800.000 a day.
Maybe next time a nice resolution belatedly congratulating the Wehrmacht for effectively cleansed neighbourhoods. Hey, with less Jews left, less die, sure is worth a party!
*The Armenians were disarmed first.

Would you show your reference for that statement?
Typically the military supports the Republican candidate over the Democrat by a margin of about 70% - 30%.
Also, typically people in the military don’t contribute much money to any candidate for a variety of reasons so I don’t think any numbers you may have are representative of how the troops will vote.
My son is in the military and he tells me that most of his buddies are supporting McCain although some of the Black soldiers are supporting Obama. His antidotal remark is that “the Black cooks and REMFs support Obama and the Black combat troops support McCain”.
I met several NCOs in the last year that told me they were getting out if Obama is elected.
I think Obama will destroy the US military. Many young men and women will not volunteer and many that are in the service now will get out. The basic support for the military comes from Heartland America. They are not voting for Obama and enlistment and reenlistments rates will suffer considerably.
If the majority of he people in this country are stupid enough to elect a military hating Socialists to be President of the US they are going to be surprised at how Heartland America will refuse to participate in the military.

Correct. I got out of the Navy specifically because Clinton was elected while I was deployed in the Med. A year and a half later the reduced budgets, scaled-back training, and gay/female policy changes made it apparent that profound changes were in store for the Navy and military in general.
Matters of the miltitary are best commented on by those that served in it.

We kicked sadr's ass up and down this shithole country til he ran in fear, just like every other "brave" Islamic militant has done in the past. Funny how the jihad happy clowns aren't so ready to meet allah when an Abrams tank rolls through their neighborhood.
In short, F*** you and your indoctrinated self. I've yet to meet a single Marine supporting your Messiah either."Don't vote. It only encourages the bastards." -PJ O'Roarke

Still, there is no doubt that with a beauracracy this big and a budget so large, there is room for cuts.
The DIMocRAT problem proven over time is they think we can essentially gut the military on their watch and slam the Republicans for spending money to fix it on their watch.
This type of management is ultimately more expensive than an annual maintenance budget.Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil.

Do not ever say that the desire to "do good" by force is a good motive. Neither power-lust nor stupidity are good motives. (Are you listening Barry)?
