On August 24th, we warned on Forbes that Tropical Storm Isaac could pose a threat to energy markets and even rival Hurricane Katrina in its destructive power (Could Tropical Storm Isaac Turn Into Another Katrina?). While the computer models are still showing a substantial spread in solutions, it appears more likely that Isaac will make landfall somewhere near the Louisiana, Mississippi Gulf Coast. This track will provide the storm more time to intensify over the very warm water of the Gulf of Mexico.
The entire Gulf Coast from Lake Charles, LA to Panama City, FL should be aware of the latest forecast model guidance. The reason for this large spread is because the computer models are split between whether a trough will capture Isaac or not. As of 8AM Sunday morning, it appears Isaac will not be captured and as a result, a more westward track is most likely.

They said on Fox News tonight that it isn't being upgraded to a hurricane. It is going to stay a tropical storm. And from the looks of the path, it isn't barely going to hit Florida. Louisiana is going to get the brunt of it.

Hope the Midwest gets some of the rain. My older son called this evening and said they had pouring rain there. They've been suffering from the drought.

Rock, hope it rains in Oklahoma. It's raining here fairly steadily now.

Not even 2 inches from this "storm"!!!

We've had thunderstorms drop more rain.

No big winds either. Looks pretty good here this morning, even got the puppers out!

I agree, the midwest needs rain, bad. I been praying for all the people being effected by the drought out there. I feel so bad for those farmers. Their livelihood is being wrecked by it.

And the impact that the Midwest semi-drought will have on food prices may be pretty dramatic from what I've been reading.
