Truth be known, if Obama was white, he would be so far behind you could call the race today. While watching the 2016 movie, one guy said something very profound and that was if Obama was white, do you think that he would go from the Illinois state senate to the White House in 2 years? The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.

So yes, I can believe that a white man could do what Obama has done. But, I don't think he could do it on the promise of being the first black president. While you were hanging yourself , on someone else's words

1960: Kennedy - Charismatic first try at the nomination
1964: Johnson - JFK's Veep
1968: Humphrey - Johnson's Veep, second choice to RFK, who was the charismatic rookie
1972: McGovern - First attempt at nomination
1976: Carter - First attempt at nomination
1980: Carter - incumbent
1984: Mondale - Carter's Veep
1988: Dukakis - First attempt at nomination
1992: Clinton - First attempt at nomination
1996: Clinton - Incumbent
2000: Gore - Clinton's Veep
2004: Kerry - First attempt at nomination
2008: Obama - First attempt at nomination
2012: Obama - Incumbent
2016: If the pattern holes, it will be Biden as the nominee, although Hillary, as the Secretary of State, is also a plausible heir apparent.
So, it is possible for a charismatic rookie to go from obscurity to the nomination, but generally, the Democrats like a bit more of a resume behind their nominees. Carter and Clinton were governors, and Gore had a lot of time in the house and senate before his first run for the nomination. The real issue with Obama wasn't simply his obscurity, but his complete lack of any semblance of qualifications for the job and his use of the race card to attack anyone who questioned it. In that regard, Obama's race was a critical tool in getting the nomination. It was also the only way that he could beat the first woman with a real chance to get the nomination. In the identity politics sweepstakes, race beat gender this time.--Odysseus

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!
