I have collected $120 from local business owners for a fundraiser for my daughter's school. Places I mainly patron; an italian bakery, a jewish deli and my nail place. Later this week I will hit up my hair salon and maybe the local Publix. Their business will be advertised on the program so it's cheap advertisement. It's for a silent auction/dinner that her preschool holds annually. All the proceeds go the school. I've been getting better on my spiel. lol
Any ideas of who else or what type of places I should go to?
Oh, and I"m going to give a playpen that was never even taken out of the box as I just didn't have room in my house. Finally found a worthy cause for it.
Business, even small mom and pop places are very generous. The fact that the government makes out business people to be greedy is unfair.

You never let me down, you male chauvinist piggy! ...
I don't think you'll get much cooperation from Publix, I could be wrong, but back when I used to volunteer my time for such things I got best results from my local small non-chain type businesses.
Hairdressers (not just your own), jewellers, art/frame shops, specialist boutique-y type stores, interior design shops, small garden/landscape businesses, etc. ... all locally owned and pleased to be part of the community. Plus as you wrote, was cheap advertising for them.
Good luck, and such a nice thing for you to do.

Never tried it for donations, when trying to get them for charity ...
But must have worked for this very *nervous* woman-driver back in '70s when we left Canada, and moved to Los Angeles area.
I had to take a driver's test with a state trooper in the seat next to me. I did just about everything wrong, and he still passed me. Men! ...
