Georgia Man Speeds Down Interstate With Crying Girlfriend On Hood

A domestic quarrel turned into something even more frightening Tuesday, when a Georgia man sped down an interstate with his terrified girlfriend trapped on the hood of his car. Investigators said it evolved into a "outrageous case" of domestic abuse.

"She's banging on the windshield begging him to stop," a terrified witness told a 911 dispatcher.

Police arrested Jonathan Salas, of Duluth, Ga., once a group of fellow motorists finally managed to slow him down by boxing him in and gradually reducing speed. They said he reached speeds of 85 mph in the rain, while his girlfriend pleaded with him to stop.

"I see her beating on the windshield, crying, as I get close, she's begging him to pull over," witness Adam Marlatt tells ABC News. "Not only will he not look at me, but he's not even paying attention to her."

I think he was headed to Florida.
