I was wondering if they were counting gay or gayish cartoon characters in the count of gays on TV.
BTW, I maintain that the longest running gay characters on TV were Fraser and Niles; masked as straight brothers perhaps, but if you didn't know they were brothers then you would be certain that they were a stereotypical gay couple. IN fact, the TV show itself had an episode in which a gay man couldn't believe that Fraser and Niles weren't gay.
If you think that the likes of Chuck Lorre care about anything other than the profit or loss from these programs, then you are a fool. Look at daytime TV; a collection of some of the dumbest crap ever recorded on video. Judge This and Judge That, Jerry Springer, Jerry Springers former henchman, a collection of real or fake doctors talking about everything from dysmenorrhea to favorite recipes. Cable news programs where whiny little journalism majors mangle the English language and be clever for each other.
With the exception of great programs like Upstairs Downstairs, Downton Abbey, Lock-Up and Family Guy- the only agenda that television programmers have is to entertain people with IQ's that would prevent them from being executed in Maryland.
