You mean when Chevy Chase portrayed the President? SNL as a whole was great in the 70's. It was also great in the early to mid 90's. The cast and GE Smith filled it out great. People like Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Phil Harman, and Mike Myers were awesome.

Of course this is my all time favorite skit. I laughed so hard from it that I wet myself ...

Yeppers, the old one were the best and the original stars went on to make some of the best comedy movies. Comedy has gone down hill now, comedy is judged now by how many times you say vagina or penis per minute, I'm no prude but it gets tiresome when overused.

I agree. The movies (Just like music) they make today doesn't come close in comparison to what was made back then...

The 2nd cast with Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscapo, Brad Hall, Julia Louis Dreyfuss, ect was pretty good as well.

The funniest SNL casts:

The original cast, either with Chevy or Murray. Chevy was always kind of a dickhead, though. Belushi was a genius. He could make me laugh with a look.

The cast in the late 80s/early 90s with Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, etc.

Both of those casts consisted of people who were all funny, either individually, or in the roles they filled. The rest of the groups may have had 2-5 players at any time that were funny (sometimes hilarious, like Eddie Murphy or Will Ferrell), but they had people who also sucked on at the same time.


I never thought Chris Farley was funny. It pissed me off when he died and all the Xers and younger were comparing him to Belushi. The only thing they had in common was that they both died of stupidity. Nothing Farley ever did came close to the Samurai.

John Belushi's Samurai was pretty good, as was Chris Farley as the motivational speaker. They each had their own, and were good at it. I never saw Farley in comparison to Belushi. They were both one of a kind...

Another good one from the 70's was Andy Kaufman.

I been trying to watch the new one, but I just can't do it. It is that bad..
