God, I'd forgotten all about that show. I only saw a very few episodes and didn't think much of either actor at the time. But, Hanks has gone on to become on of the truly great actors of his generation.

Bit parts in a number of TV shows. Not exactly "movie star" quality.

The regular roles he had were in dead end TV shows.

"Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show"? I never knew there was such a thing!

I agree. It's not a legendary career, but it looks like he's had steady work.

I don't have any problems with gays, nor with gay characters on tv. One of my favorite shows of all time is Xena, and that is about as gay as tv gets (although gay with a lot of humor).

I will say this, though. Roseanne took it too far by making almost all the characters gay, including her mother, and Ellen's sitcom was not funny anymore after she came out of the closet (although that episode was funny)-the show became all about Ellen's gayness, and not about her relationships with her friends, which had been the original point of the show. Exploring a character's gayness is what the LOGO network is for.

My favorite episode of "All In The Family" is the one where Archie thinks Meathead's friend (played by Anthony Geary, aka Luke Spencer of Luke and Laura fame) is gay because he talks effeminite and wears a scarf. It's funny, as funny as the episode where Sammy Davis, Jr kisses Archie.

I wonder who for GLAAD does the counting, as far as the number of gay characters goes, and how they determine whether a character is gay or not? Does he count Big Gay Al and Mr. Slave? Mr. Smithers and Aunt Patty? All four of the Wiggles? Huckleberry Hound? Uncle Arthur on Bewitched? Also, I wonder how much a job like that pays, because it is probably at least twice what I make.
