I'm sure you didn't mean to low-rate drone pilots. As far as I know drone pilots are real, actual pilots who are actually qualified to fly. They're just sitting in a cockpit in Nevada. Which is where I like them.
But I'm betting you're right. By the time a pilot goes through all the stuff they have to to become a pilot, they've been flying X Boxes a long time.
I read about the SU-25. Seems to me that of all the aircraft currently in inventory, the SU-25 would have the best chance of shooting a drone. Just like our A-10 Warthog would probably be our first choice. We just wouldn't miss.
SU-25's are ground attack aircraft. Their targetting systems are made for that role, not for engaging air targets. They'd be the worst option to attack an air target, even one that moves as slowly as a Predator.
Edit: Also, as far as I can tell this is the first instance in the aircrafts history were it engaged another aircraft, and wasn't shot down. So maybe we should chock that up as a win for the pilots?
Edit 2: I was wrong, an SU-25 has shot down another aircraft before. Another SU-25, his own wingman. I still think that would count as an SU-25 airiel engagement that ended with an SU-25 being shot down.
