Thereís one group that Superstorm Sandy left dry ó drinkers.
Floodwaters from the massive hurricane smashed a New Jersey liquor distributor, causing tens of millions of dollars in damage to its supply of top-shelf alcohol, the company said.
Yesterday, a sad mix of liquor and slush puddled on the ground outside Fedway Associates Inc.ís warehouse in Kearny ó where the smell of red wine hung in the air as workers piled boxes and broken glass into an 8-foot-tall mountain.
The devastating deluge smashed bottles of pricy libations such as Grey Goose vodka and Cristal Champagne, leaving a river of booze pouring onto a pile of soggy cardboard.
ďHurricane Sandy dealt a near knockout blow to our south Kearny facility last week,Ē Fedwayís president, Neil Barnett, wrote on the companyís Facebook page.

Oh, how terrible for the people of New Jersey.
And the Beaujoulais Noveau is due out this Thursday.

This could be serious actually. My best friend's uncle Bob forgot to put his bottle in the car when they left their condo in Ocean City Maryland to return to their home in Layhill, MD. That's normally a two hour drive. They got stuck in traffic for hours, and Bob started detoxing. They had to medivac him to Baltimore where he went to intensive care (he was a very serious case) . The good news is that he hasn't had a drink since, and has lived much longer than anyone expected him to. When she was told what had happened, his alcoholic sister remarked, "Well, there goes Thanksgiving".
This is the same man who scared the hell out of all of us one night. We were in the family room downstairs when we heard his shotgun go off. Bob had tired of the conversation in the kitchen and gone into the den to watch a little TV. Apparently, the timing was such that there was a black person on each broadcast channel, so he took his shotgun and shot the TV set. He drank bourbon.
