Nothing wrong with stocking up on non-perishables. I always stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies etc.
I'm going to charge a lot for toilet paper too.
You rotate your supplies and nothing ever goes to waste, food has never gotten cheaper, all through my life it has climbed and not always gradually either. Don't forget sauces spices and sugar. I keep several bags of Morton Tender Quick cure on hand in case power goes out, I also have twelve cases of canning jars in reserve at all times in case I need to can the meat in the freezer. I can't bear the thought of wasting anything, I never have and never will.
