Let's face it, there's only been a few real conservatives in the repub party for quite some time now and what I'm reading from Jindal's message is that we need to completely abondon conservative values, pitch a big tent and welcome everybody in. To these establishment, repubs winning elections is priority number one even if it means abandoning conservative values. But, in reality, it doesn't really matter because for all practical purposes the repubs are done as a viable alternative to the rats.
You know, the more I think about it the more the repubs kinda remind me of those stooge basketball teams that used to play against the Harlem Globetrotters.
The real problem is the definition of "conservative". Some would have that mean that it conforms to their religious beliefs. If conservative doesn't mean "mind your own business" then what does it mean? By the same token, "liberal" shouldn't be redefined to mean what the far left claims it does or the far right accuses it of doing.
We live in a world where the establishment of a dictatorship would be on the ballot as "The Restoration of Democracy Act" and those in the legislature promoting it would call objecting judges "activist".
It would be interesting to run a controlled experiment where you told a mixed group of Republicans and Democrats that this was a Republican initiative to oust Obama, and then told a different mixed group that this was a Democrat initiative to keep Obama in power for a 3rd term. And see how the responses on whether individuals in the gorup approved or disproved fell along party lines.
We have no issue in defining ourselves. It's the left that seeks to label anyone that disagrees with them "Conservative" to try and somehow smear them.
Some = LiberalsSome would have that mean that it conforms to their religious beliefs.
Only problem is that Liberalism IS clearly defined and their actions are clear as well. But because the media refuses to do it's job...the people that rightly point out what Liberalism is and what it's doing to this country...get labelled as "wing nuts".By the same token, "liberal" shouldn't be redefined to mean what the far left claims it does or the far right accuses it of doing.
You jsut described perfectly how Liberals and the media would frame just such a scenario. We live in a world where the establishment of a dictatorship would be on the ballot as "The Restoration of Democracy Act" and those in the legislature promoting it would call objecting judges "activist".
I can't wait to hear people now claim Bobby Jindal is some sort of rino....
We lost this election for two reasons..
First, the campaign finance laws prevented Romney from responding to the devastating number of negative ads that Obama and his pals played in Virginia, Florida, Ohio and Colorado. Obama basically suppressed the independent and some conservatives in those states.
Secondly, we have to stop running morons. Murdoch and that idiot in Missouri should never again be allowed near a microphone. They played right into the hands of Obama's "War on Women" bullshit. Next time a reporter asks about something stupid, we need to tell them to find other bait material.
Jindal is a hard core conservative is has ALWAYS been pro-life, pro-second amendment and pro-small government. What he is saying is that we need to start to teach people again about conservative values and stop saying stupid stuff.
