So why did he make a sign that has nothing to do with the occasion or the denomination he practices? Its just another way of giving believers the finger. Isn't that cool? The president has pardon power, enshrined in the U.S. constitution. That power is not religiously related. The Mercedes Marxist likes to do that subtle mocking of Christianity. His muslim upbringing is the source of that mocking. And did you notice that half-way through the blessing he had to look to his left to see how to finish the blessing? He could not even pretend to be The Pope without "off-screen" instructions. So what does a "traditional" Muslim use his left hand for .. given the lack of toilet paper in most Muslim countries?

It's actually a little bit of both. It's sacrilegious because Obama isn't Catholic and doesn't have an understanding of what the sign of the cross symbolizes. It's farcical because Obama, as usual, is poking fun at a religion not called Islam. He's an asshole for doing so.

Meh...I usually find myself in agreement with Janice, but this time I'm on the outside looking in. Obama is left handed and has never been a Catholic. I don't know how to cross someone, either, although I think I could cross myself without boogering it all up. (Do left handed people cross others in the same sequence they should cross themselves?)
And if the sign of the cross is made improperly, does God notice? Or care? I wouldn't think so, but that's just me...

Seriously, could we have a dumber President? All those years sitting in Reverend Wright's pews and he couldn't even learn how to do the sign of the cross.

I would be surprised if UCC ritual includes the papist sign of the cross. You hard even see Episcopalians doing this anymore either. I haven't been to a Catholic Church in 30 years so I don't know what they are doing these days.

Oh please. I often say "Go in peace the Mass has ended." and it has nothing to do with besmirching the Catholic Church. It's just something I have always found amusing, ie when the congregation says, "Thanks be to God." Between long winded priests and no air conditioning by the time we said, "Thanks be to God" we usually meant it.
