#1 Illegals may get driverís licenses in Illinois11-21-2012, 09:28 PM

Illinois’ top leaders said Tuesday that they will push to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants — testing federal strictures and becoming the latest sign that the pendulum has swung away from Arizona-style crackdowns and toward those pursuing a softer line on immigration.
Surrounded by Republicans and Democrats at a news conference, state Senate President John Cullerton said he will try to pass legislation in the coming weeks, and Gov. Pat Quinn said he will sign it if it reaches his desk.May the FORCE be with you!

Let them drive so they can take jobs away from families that need the jobs.
Illinois already has a bad history of CDLs being traded for bribes and votes.

I would agree with this under one condition. That is that they put a stamp on their drivers license stating they are here illegally. That way they can not vote, and when pulled over, the officer will know...

My MI DL is indistinguishable from any US citizen's, despite the fact the MI requires proof of legal residency to get it. Of course, when renewing, I've never been asked to show proof of legal residency again. I don't think its even in the record...
When I got my first US DL, the girl at the SOS looked at my INS authorization papers, but I don't think she had any real understanding of what she was looking at, or what it meant. It looked official, had the INS logo, and the dates were good, and I'm sure that's all she knew about it.
My SS card, on the other hand, has in RED letters, right across the front, "NOT VALID FOR WORK WITHOUT INS AUTHORIZATION".
