Of course, Mary Martin was the original on Broadway in South Pacific with Ezio Pinza, also the original on Broadway in the Sound of Music. I saw her years and years ago on stage in St Louis with the Broadway road show of "I Do, I Do". It was delightful. Mary Martin was one of the greatest. She probably was in her 60's then and played the role of a young bride up til old age. She was totally convincing as a young girl. She was a wonder.

I liked him both as Major Nelson and as JR Ewing. It's too bad, he was pretty good on the Dallas remake. I wasn't watching the show for the young and braindead new characters, I was watching to see what JR was going to do to mess with them.
