Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.
They may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control...
The 1st BCT's soldiers also will learn how to use "the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded," 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.
For more than 100 years -- since the end of the Civil War -- deployment of the U.S. military inside the U.S. has been prohibited under The Posse Comitatus Act
    Interesting.

Well, considering how everyone is expecting (and hoping for in Blinkys case) rioting in the streets when Obaaahma loses, better safe than sorry I say.

    Any thoughts?

They are called "Fun Centers!" per VRWC DR 121.875.

You keep that crap up and they will ignore the free "Fun Passes". :D

Sounds like it's time to send in the Marines. :D

Seriously tho, if they did deploy forces, IMHO it would be National Guard troops called out by the states with the riots in them.

It should figure heavily. You're not supposed to use federal troops for natural or man made emergencys, other than guard troops, except after a long, drawn out process. Doesn't the state have to request them?

That's how it worked in Detroit in 1967. although I didn't live here then and I was only 3. People still talk about it. One of my friends said that there was a tank parked down the street from her house. I think the National Guard was called in in the 40s, too, when there was a riot. There are jokes about how Detroit is the only american city north of the Mason-Dixon line to be occupied by military troops twice.

I remember when the verdict came down in the Malice Green case, I was out and about for work, and I was afraid that if the officers had been aquitted, there would be a riot. It wasn't that long after the LA riots following the Rodney King case, and in this case, the guy was dead.
