That said, kudos to the officer in the OP, well done! It's just too bad that this is infrequent enough that it qualifies as news in the first place. (And that goes for all of us, not just cops...)

It's not infrequent, it's just not publicized. This was a shot by a tourist. The media doesn't report nice things.

The cop is still a hero, he did the right thing.

The guy that rec'd the boots will just close doors for others that really do need help.
