Death Star Petition Urges White House To Build Killer Space Station
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2234375.html
Americans are petitioning the White House to go where it has never gone before -- to construct a "Death Star" by 2016 to "strengthen our national defense."
In the "Star Wars" film series, the Death Star was a space station about the size of a small moon that was equipped with laser weapons powerful enough to destroy planets. And if another 24,000 people sign the petition before its Dec. 14 deadline, a White House official will ostensibly be forced to give serious consideration to the issue of building one.
"Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016," the petition reads. "By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering space exploration."
With defense spending already facing the ax in ongoing budget negotiations, a proposal to expend billions upon billions upon billions of dollars on a U.S. version of the Death Star does not appear promising. Estimates have placed the cost of the needed steel production alone at 13,000 times the world's gross domestic product. (No mention was made of the technological feasibility of the project.)

SIGN IT NOW!!!!May the FORCE be with you!

Just a few tips: leave out that missle-sized hole on this one. Make sure that the enemy can't plug their mobile computers into the main frame of the Death Star and download all the blueprints, shut down the tractor beams, or reveal the whereabouts of secret prisoners to would-be rescuers.

Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.

We could say they are spending like drunken sailors. That would be unfair to drunken sailors, they're spending their OWN money.

Hmm. I think 2016 is a little unrealistic.
Sounds like more of a ten-year project to me...

2. What is this?
The ghost of Reagan past?
If you're going to invoke Reagan and StarWars then in 1994 when the U.S. was thinking about developing a Gay Bomb (and a Halitosis Bomb), that goes on Clinton.Be Not Afraid.
