I try and not go out in any inclement weather. Nothing is more frustrating than people driving 20 miles an hour everywhere. If weather is so bad that you have to drive slower than you have to walk STAY HOME!!!!! I fancy myself a good bad weather driver. I drove for a living in all kinds of weather and never have I lost control even when driving among idiots.
Just be thankful you're not driving through Newfoundland in the winter. Unless you are driving through Newfoundland in the winter.
Winter Driving Survival Tips
The worst part of snow is shoveling it. Driving in it isn't all that difficult, especially in these modern times of nice things like front wheel drive and all-weather tires.
I remember back when I first started driving, the 68 Olds Cutlass F-85, and we had to put a couple of backs of rock salt in the trunk every winter to weight it down, or we wouldn't be able to drive it uphill on a slippery incline. We also had to get the winter tires put on it every fall and the regular tires put back on in the spring.
When I was living in Tucson, one day while working, it started to snow. I'm talking about the big flakes. Snow in the desert is something to see. However, I just kept along with my job while most others stopped working and were marveling at the snow. The girl sitting next to me said, "isn't it beautiful?" My reply was, "When it gets up to your hips and you have to shovel it, you won't think it's so beautiful anymore." In short, some people hate shoveling, I loathe shoveling.
