Nohejl, a 30-year veteran of the department, had been on paid administrative leave since April 18, 2012, when his police chief ordered the first of two Internal Affairs investigations into allegations about his work performance.

The first investigation ended on Nov. 9, and he was suspended without pay for 20 consecutive work days, after it was found he had been sleeping on duty, neglecting his assigned duties, and engaging in conduct unbecoming of an officer.
