#1 Wrath of Khan: Ice storm now has a name01-25-2013, 02:55 PM
Well, the Weather Channel has named the ice storm that hit us. Wrath of Khan: Ice storm now has a name
Once the National Weather Service issued an Ice Storm Warning - which runs until 7 p.m. Friday night - and the storm continued to grow, the Weather Channel decided it was a notable enough event to continue it's newly-minted practice of bestowing names on winter storms, in much the same way that hurricanes get named. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Good. Now maybe the Weather Channel will name that one-inch of snow about to fall in Virginia--the one that has people rushing to the supermarkets to stock up on toilet paper and flashlight batteries. (I got a call from someone in line at a local Food Lion this morning.)
And, since we have rain--yes RAIN!!--in San Diego today, we should have that named. "Stormwatch: 2103!" is getting a little old.

IT. IS. FREAKING. COLD. OUT.
Coldest it's been around here in three years. I am not happy. Where's that groundhog at? If he sees a shadow next week, he is dead.Be Not Afraid.
