Some would say that football/team-sports and promulgation of homophobia are inseparable.

Don't you think it's somewhat ironic, considering we are talking about a sport that features men tackling and piling up on top of each other.

When I belonged to the Racquet Club there was a group of about a dozen 22-32 year old men who played "walleyball" on Tuesdays. I always thought it was funny that people suspect gay men of hanging out in locker rooms when this bunch spent more time in the locker room than they did playing walleyball (volleyball on a racquet ball court). They came in as a group, changed into their play clothes, hung out in the locker room until everyone had arrived and then played ball for an hour. Return to the locker room, strip out, shower, and then all of the got into the whirlpool (it was a large whirlpool) naked and drank a couple pitchers of beer. After that, they would all take another shower together, get dressed and go on their merry way.

Except that the linebacker in this case is a homophile.

The simultaneous collision of so many punch lines from this opening has left me incapable of comment.

As Homer Simpson said, "I prefer my beer cold, my TV loud, and my homosexuals flaming."
