#1 The celebration of Stan the Man's Life01-26-2013, 11:53 PM
Stan the Man has always been my hero. He was laid to rest, honored by the surviving Card Hall of Famers, the previous Card managers, many of the former players, including Pujols who returned to St Louis, his family and his many friends. This isn't just a sports story, it's a love story, a story of devotion. He and his wife Lil were married 72 years before her death last year. They said he'd always push her wheel chair and help her. Stan had Alzheimers but remained always smiling and cheerful.
He was not just a great ball player. He was a great man. He was so well loved in St Louis. He always was a gentleman and polite. He's a hero in today's world, albeit an old fashioned one. They don't make men like him anymore. It's worth following the link to read a truly touching story.
May flights of angels accompany Stan to meet his maker and to be reunited with Lil Musial.
