Kilpatrick was convicted on 24 of 30 counts, including five counts of extortion, racketeering, bribery and several mail, wire and tax fraud charges. On three counts he was found not guilty and on three there was no verdict reached.
Ferguson was found guilty on nine of 11 counts, including racketeering and several counts of extortion. He was found not guilty on one count and there was no verdict on another

The defendants were accused of, among other things, shaking down contractors and rigging bids to help steer lucrative contracts to Ferguson. Prosecutors said the philosophy of the enterprise was simple: If you wanted work in the city of Detroit, you either had to hire Ferguson, or in some cases, hire the mayor’s father as a consultant.

I'm confused here, this is illegal? I thought it was expected of black leadership.

I had a feeling that they were going to come out with the verdict today, and I was pretty sure the jury was going to find them all guilty at least of racketeering, if nothing else. From what I could see, the prosecution had a pretty strong case.
Of course, Kwame will tie this up in appeals forever, but it will be nice to see him carted off to federal prison for a while.
For what it's worth, the black mayor before Kwame (Dennis Archer) and the current black mayor (Dave Bing) are not corrupt.

Yeah, but ...
What with the Sequestration, we can't afford to keep in in prison these days. Is cheaper to just clamp on an electronic ankle bracelet and keep track of him!
Heard that on either Herman Cain's, or Mark Stein (sp?) filling in for Rush's program this morning.
So ... Kwame Kilpatrick will be just fine! No need to worry ... move on!

We should stop and think what this man gave up just to serve the public, he could have had a very profitable career selling crack, robbing banks, bookie, loan shark or any number of money making endeavors, instead he devoted his life to serving us, I feel a tear welling up.

I've never heard of a white politician getting busted for corrupt activity while still in office, go to jail, do their time, get out, re-run for the same office and win like Marion Barry did. It just goes to prove my theory that with blacks it's skin color first, party 2nd, all else a distant 3rd.
