I don't know the area. Are there weird small-town politics at work here?

No. A tool of an adjuster didn't like being told the truth and neither did the council. There are no witnesses to the supposed threat either. But, most towns have their little fiefdoms, some take it to the extremes. Take my town. If the lid to my trashcan got blown open by the wind in the middle of the night before trash day, I'll be fined $75. They also won't allow major businesses to open stores in town to preserve the historical aspect of the town, which is a joke considering most parts of the city look like Detroit after Mischief Night.

No witnesses? She said it at a council meeting. Does that mean that the other members of the council didn't hear the threat either?

According to the article and a news report I saw yesterday, the alleged threat happened in the parking lot.

So, it's his word against hers? That's utter BS. The cops should have dismissed the complaint the moment that she denied it. However, if they are willing to arrest someone on fabricated evidence, she could retaliate and claim that he approached her in the lot and offered his assistance if she were willing to put out.

This is insane. Assuming she didn't make a threat, I would get a good lawyer and be the new owner of that POS town.

I always record threats on my voicemail. I don't get them often, but it's the nature of the job sometimes. As we say in Detroit, People Be Crazy.
