Why does China while they are throwing off many of the restraints of Mao style communism want N.Korea to stay in Mao's grip. I don't believe N. Korea does anything without China's permission?
How is obama working out for you?

It looks like they filmed a movie in Detroit without paying the taxes. I'm pretty sure they didn't qualify for Michigan's film tax incentives.

China is caught in a web of its own making, useful as it is as a foil between it and the US. Russia's involvement is more symbolic now, whatever government the Russians have is more or less now tied to the mafia. China and NK have been partners, with NK more a vassal or "client state"..that video does make one very interesting note: the sales of arms to private citizens. North Korea has no concerns as their "juche" and "songun politics" indoctrination begins almost at birth, if not shortly afterward.

They control the sheep as there are no sheepdogs, no alpha males to lead. Until that cycle is broken, until some kind of self realisation comes to North Korea, we will be seeing more of the same. I am assuming for the sake of it that NK does have a workng nuke..THAT would have set off alarm bells in China. No doubt they knew, but the fact that their somewhat unstable "partner" is now a nuclear power would have given them pause. The question then becomes one of active controls vs passive, like the US PAL system, checks and balances.

Dont make the mistake of thinking Kim Jong Un is in control..he isnt.

    Look at this photo

and note the hierarchy and position of family members. NK is the worlds only dynastic oligarchy, not Communist by any stretch.

I agree with much that you say, I don't understand what china gains from keeping them in the dark this way.
China is not directly ruling average citizens in N.Korea but they are allowing this system, why? What could there possibly be to gain? They no longer have their own citizens in a grip this tight.
I can make no sense right now of the situation in N. Korea coupled with their connection to China, none.

What China gains is the role of a spoiler. It also gains a useful enemy against the US, as with all things, China will act in whatever is in its own best interests, and as is well known, China is running arms to Myanmar, the unrest and fomented rebellion they caused will keep that nation off balance for a long time to come. the drug trade is also a useful tool for them

North Korea accounts for over 2 billion in sales and trade to China, textiles, food, oil and other resources, look at it this way, China is NK's senior partner / sponsor in much the same way as Russia has propped up Cuba for decades, and still does. The only real mistake Russia has made with Cuba was back in 63, and the Russians VERY BADLY underestimated the resolve of the US in that crisis..they were hoping the US would buckle. In the same fashion the Chinese are using the NK people as a backstop / proxy battle...the fact the North Koreans now have nukes makes it worse.

Kim Jong Un may be the Dear Leader..but China calls the shots. They can do without him eventually..but he cant let them go. To do so would be a catastrophe as even with Choll'ima, speed battles and other "plans of the Great Leader", what they make has little to any real quality, and in a world marketplace, can offer very little.

The Korean War was not ended in a peace treaty but a truce, and there is very little holding Uncle Kim back form the 38th parallel..except the Chinese, who are very well aware of the consequences of another invasion.

Rock, China broke it..now they bought it and I think cant extricate themselves. In all truth I think China wants out, but are stuck with it.

South Korea offers Westernisation, democracy, freedom..NK as it is serves to, as the Chinese would think, limit US and Western influence in that region. Look at Hong Kong, China isnt completely stupid, they had more than enough brains to not kill the goose that laid 100 golden eggs a day, they left Hong Kong as it was, and with very little if any real intervention.

North Korea , however, is NOT self sufficient and if China abandoned them...collapse.

All we can do is wait.

    This may help
