They provide a service to people who can't get credit by other means, and they are comparatively up-front about it being an expensive way to do things. A lot of idiots will get in even worse trouble than they already were by using them, others who understand the loan clearly will get exactly what they need on terms they understand clearly. There's always bankruptcy for the idiots.

They also prey on the young and inexperienced. It's awful to see how many of these payday loan places and "E-Z Terms" car dealers are clustered around military bases.

    I agree.

I work with a single mom of three kids that had a major water leak that sent her water bill sky high, she had to get a short term loan at a local place to pay the bill.

The father of the kids gives "dead beat dad" a whole new meaning, he is a true POS.

It was stated that Rent-a-Center was a ghetto vulture. Ghetto. Filled mostly with FSA soldiers, aka, 0bama voters, aka, parasites.

    I stand by my statement.

As far as winning over the poor, I've got a news flash for you: it ain't gonna happen unless you try to out Santa Claus Santa Claus and when you do that you are no longer a conservative. Of course, if you have a 'bold, comprehensive' plan I'd love to hear it.

BTW, do you consider yourself a 'compassionate' conservative.....................

If you're so compassionate why didn't you loan her the money, interest free!

I was taught very early in life, "let the buyer beware". Did I make some stupid decisions buying stuff on 'easy credit' when I was young anyway? You betcha. But I learned from the experience and made better decisions as I got older. That's the way it's supposed to work.

What's your alternative? Provide a 'nanny' for everybody?

While I agree with you on the first part of your post ...

I have to disagree with "To simply call everyone who's in need of money a parasite is the reason why we conservatives have problems winning poor people to our side."

NJ ... I have worked "knocking on doors" for a great deal of my adult life, volunteering for conservative candidates in both Canada and the US.

You can take my word for it, the poor, the working-poor (most of them) will never, ever vote for the party that they consider to be for "the rich". In the US, that means the Republicans.

They are far too busy earning a meager living from day to day, come home exhausted, flop down on the couch to watch sit-coms or whatever is on TV ... to have time to pay attention to the very things that could help them to better themselves.

A very sad commentary on my part, I realize ... but that in my opinion is EXACTLY why we have problems winning poor people to our side.

No. Apparently the alternative is having to spend training and orientation time for new soldiers on money management, as the military does now.

Poor conservatives are so busy working we don't have time to whine about being poor so we don't get counted with them, also they don't call liberals that are broke poor anymore, they have a plethora of other names.
The difference between pigs and people is that when they tell you you're cured it isn't a good thing.
