CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's state prosecutors issued an arrest warrant Saturday for a popular television satirist for allegedly insulting Islam and the country's president, in the latest legal action to take aim at a critic of the nation's Islamist leader.
Opposition figures have expressed concerns about freedom of expression and assembly for what they call a crackdown on dissent at a time of deep polarization in Egypt's politics.
The opposition charges that Morsi and the Brotherhood have failed to tackle any of the nation's most pressing problems and are trying to monopolize power, and breaking promises of inclusiveness. <snipped>
re: the bolded - If the AP had any balls in this country they would say the same thing about 0bama. How is he any different than Morsi.
The best part of the article is when they mention that it's women and the Christians that are in opposition and trying to bring Democracy to Egypt. No kidding. Link
The warrant against Bassem Youssef is also the latest in a series of legal actions against the comedian, who has come to be known as Egypt's Jon Stewart.Be Not Afraid.

It is about time they catch up, we arrested a crappy amateur movie producer already last year for a movie that offended Islam, the rest need to get with the program.

They need another revolution, and we need to stop funding them. Actually, we should have stopped funding them years ago.

When Mubarak was in power, we funded them because they did what we told them to do. Now that they are acting against our interests, we should cut them off (actually, we should have cut them off the minute Morsi started threatening to tear up the peace treaty that we negotiated). Egypt's economy is a basket case, and Morsi is failing on that regard, but he has the support of the most organized and ruthless party in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood, and as long as they provide the muscle to suppress dissent, he will have the same means to keep power as any other totalitarian dictator.
The children will be married off shortly, or at least the girls will be (Islam permits marriage at six and consummation at nine). The boys will be learning the joys of jihad, and as most of them will never marry (polygamy is a zero sum game), they'll end up dying for Allah in the hope of getting some in the afterlife.--Odysseus
