    Canada, UK, and Sweden don't have single payer systems. They have NHS systems.

    Actually Canada's NHS system isn't actually national.

    Each province maintains their own health care delivery and administration, supported by transfer payments from the Fed.

    That's why some provinces can actually deliver decent health care, while others have an 18-month wait list for imaging diagnostics (like MRI.)
