Just heard on Fox News that Annette Funicello has passed away at the age of 70. http://www.tmz.com/2013/04/08/annett...er-dead-at-70/The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.

She suffered with MS for a very long time. It's sad that she is gone, but she is now free of that horrible disease.
I watched the Mickey Mouse Club in syndication, long after Annette grew up and moved on from it. The newer version with Blair from Facts of Life came out later, when I was too old for that kind of thing.
I still can't think about Annette without thinking about a very funny SNL skit starring Gilda Radner as Annette-the one where Princess Leia (host Carrie Fisher) lands on the beach with Annette and Frankie. Gilda introduces herself: Hi, I'm Annette and these are my breasts".

The Mouseketeers are getting long in the tooth. This isn't meant to demean or diminish her life or reputation, but I was past the "Mickey Mouse Club" age when she became a star...http://www.latimes.com/news/obituari...,5659102.story

I grew up watching her and the rest of the Mouseketeers back in the late 50's/early 60's in B&W.
RIP, Annette and thanks for all the memories. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I wonder if they'll bury her with mouse ears on.
A fond farewell to literally one of the first teen icons ever on television. She was a trailblazer, and she was one very pretty lady, both in her youth and older.Olde-style, states' rights conservative. Ask if this concept confuses you.

It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
