It's what I did some 50+ years ago in the USAF. Now a "sleeper" has awakened in me. I started thinking about the IRS reading all emails and the NSA intercepting virtually all internet traffic. As a retired federal employee, I know from personal experience that when a government agency says things like they promise they won't misuse information, or that they will delete it, they lie!

I have several off-line machine simulators plus one non-machine that would be suitable for forum posting. They can be used in ways that couldn't be decyphered by the fastest super computer.

    Anybody interested?

The KO-6 was the first all electronic system I learned and taught. But the KW-26 was the one I spent the most time with.

The KW-26 used a number randomly selected from the Fibonacci sequence (an irrational number), by a randomly punched IBM card to generate code. The GO1 pulse sent from the transmitter was needed to start the receiver, and a GO2 pulse was transmitted back from the receiver as an ack. Ah, the memories are amazing!

I was probably long gone before you were even in the AF. You folks got the best quarters and the new crypto building. This was ours...

...plus WW2 one story three room barracks for classrooms. But we had a squadron reunion in '98.

    My USAF recollections are here.

Ah yes the Bi-Magnetic Ferrite Cores, was trained on KW-26's, never got to use them.

As for quarters, most of my quarters where tents and vans, I was in a Mob.

About a year later went back to school for the DSTE, two 40 ft trailers of punch card equipment and six generators. It was like moving a small city.

Back to your original topic. This is an interesting discussion:
