The senate bill for gun control failed in a 54 - 46 vote. It needed 60 to pass. It looks like the Republicans who voted to start the debate voted against it. Boya!

Good. Everything it was advertised as doing was already in place, and the Democrats would've added some 'Features' that would be nightmarish even by Microsoft's definition of the word if it had gone over that hurdle and all the amendments (Like an AWB) got added to it once it had momentum.

But Obama signed a bipartisan bill that still allows them to keep their access to insider trading secret from the rest of us great unwashed.

    I am so thrilled.

Good news bad news. Like many pro-second amendment people, I would have considered a bill which increased background checks but also mandated CCP reciprocity to have been a win of sorts, or at least more convenient than the status quo.

I agree with the expanded background checks also. But that is as far as I go with the bill..

This pretty much means that gun control is dead for now. My worry is that Obama will use Executive Orders to get what he wants. His excuse will be that the gun industry (notice how much they have pushed the NRA as corporate shill meme this time around) is too powerful for anything to get through Congress and that he must fight the evil corporations. Declaring himself the 99%'s representative, Obama will sign a flurry of orders to "get those evil corporations" and get what he wants.
