I am sick of being treated less than human

I am a contractor
That means I get paid for 40 hours of work, whether I do 40 or more
If I do 39, I get paid for 39 hours of work. If I do 50, I get paid for 40.
If I complain, I am fired.
If I take this up with the state, I get fired and probably blackballed.
I will "never work in this town again."
I can leave, and that's about my only freedom.
We are expected to drive sales so they can get bonuses. We don't get bonuses.
Long ago they promised full employment if you do a good job.
I haven't seen one contractor go perm in the almost 2 years I've been here.
It's a joke.
Yes, I know many of you out there have it worse.
But that really doesn't matter.
And guess what? This place was recently given an award for being one of the best companies to work for!!!
If I had enough money to survive unemployment for a while, I might consider trying to unionize us.
But all of us have been well scared away from that.
Besides, there are a bunch of workers in Bengalore who would be willing to slit their whole families' throats for a chance to interview at this job.
I'll say it again....
FUCK CAPITALISM!!!!May the FORCE be with you!

I'm not going to suggest a wambulance. Maybe it has something to do with attitude.
Many over there seem to ascribe to the "we're all slaves of the rich" mentality.

The one good thing my union did for my coworkers and I is get the employer to change us from salaried workers to hourly workers. That means if I work over 40 hours, I get paid for each hour I work.
I'm not defending the whole "I hate capitalism" part of the crying, but I do think that it's only fair that if you work 50 hours a week, you should get paid for working 50 hours a week.

I have to credit Megabank for their labor compliance.
No one was expected to work more than 40 hours per week, not even exempt employees. The exemption for managerial staff is to account for flexibility, it is not to provide corporations with free labor on the back of management.
When the call center was slammed and managers were needed to work the phones, we were paid by the hour at our hourly overtime rate. This kept the corporation from having to go to court over unpaid hours and definitions of "manager" and it also discouraged the forecasters from screwing up and requiring too much management on the phone time.
All salaried employees were paid an hourly overtime rate when working more than 40 hours in a week in a demand capacity. You were not paid overtime if you worked extra hours on Thursday and Friday because you had personal business to take care of on Wednesday.
