I've just lost all respect for Stephen Hawking.

This "Genius" is supporting a bunch of terrorists.

I guess he likes their bomb and rocket making abilities...
May the FORCE be with you!

Stephen Hawking’s decision to boycott an Israeli conference in protest at the state’s 46-year occupation of Palestine was derided as hypocritical by some, who pointed out that the celebrated scientist and author uses Israeli technology in the computer equipment that allows him to function …According to Shurat HaDin, an Israel law centre which represents victims of terrorism, the equipment has been provided by an Israeli hi-tech firm, Intel, since 1997.
A brief history of time vs a brief analysis of Hawkings idiocy.

I never had any respect for him. People think he is a genius when in reality he is just another L. Ron Hubbard. Look for the 'Hawkins' religion to be formed here soon, if it hasn't already.

Please don't compare an atheist scientist who doesn't like Israel with a manipulative conman who beat his wife and abused the members of his cult. Hawkins is not forming a religion, he is anti-religion. A lot of scientists are, because they can't prove the existence of God using scientific methods.

That's a far cry from inventing some bizarre story about aliens possessing our souls and locking your dissident members up in some church property and forcing them to perform slave labor until they repent. Or providing wives to cover for gay and womanizing celebrity members.

He is a screw ball. And siding with the Palestinians shows that he is in favor of the Islam religion/cult .. Sorry if you are a follower of Hawkins. The truth tends to hurt.

I'm not a follower of Hawkins-I really don't have the scientific ability to read his books and understand his arguments one way or another. I just don't think he belongs in the same category as L. Ron Hubbard.

I know a lot of people who have sympathies on both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian conflicts, but are not in favor of Islam. Many are Christians of all denominations, who have done work in Jerusalem and other places in the region to help bring understanding to both sides. The conflict seems to be about religion, and frequently it is, but it is also about ethnicity. Arab Christians are treated the same way as Arab Muslims by Israel's government, for example.

Actually, I believe Hawking has acknowledged in the past that there is at least as much scientific evidence that there is a supreme being of some sort as there isn't.

I don't particularly care where he falls in the whole I/P burndown. Opinions are like assholes and everyone certainly winds up having an opinion on the I/P bit. What I DO have a problem with is that he should know that science is supposed to be above politics. Science is not supposed to be dissuaded by this petty conflict or that one, but instead should be rising above it. Even acknowledging the existence of some ass-backward "boycott" is delivering a tremendous blow to science itself. And of all people, Stephen Hawking should know this better than anyone. Perhaps science should boycott cripples in wheelchairs, too. Maybe then he'd get the idea.
Olde-style, states' rights conservative. Ask if this concept confuses you.

Being sympathetic about both sides I can see. But going against Israel and taking the side of the Palestinians, who are Islamic, shows that you support Islam.

Hawkins has never furnished facts to support his claims. He can't supply facts. Just like science in a whole, his beliefs are all based on theories. I'm not saying that what I believe is 100% factual, but at least with mine, there are witnesses and archaeology that supports a lot of it.
