    Another Chilling Leak Investigation

    By THE EDITORIAL BOARD

    Published: May 21, 2013

With the decision to label a Fox News television reporter a possible “co-conspirator” in a criminal investigation of a news leak, the Obama administration has moved beyond protecting government secrets to threatening fundamental freedoms of the press to gather news.

Note, that is by the Editorial Board, not some journalist or report or Opinion writer. Obama, you just lost one of your best boot-lickers. Who's next, MSNBC?

The AP scandal will hurt Obama more than all of the others. Going against Fox wouldn't have annoyed the NY Times or the rest of the media sycophants, but the AP was in the tank for him, and was perfectly happy to play his game, just like the rest of the MSM. The AP was being punished for reporting a story that was no longer sensitive, but hadn't been announced by the White House, and Obama and his handlers were pissed that the AP had stolen their moment. The administration was acting vindictively and treating some if its most loyal and obsequious supporters with petulance and malice, and the rest of the press corps has taken notice.

The Clintons made a similar mistake with the firings in the White House Travel Office. The WHTO made the travel arrangements for the press that accompanied POTUS, and they had longstanding professional relationships, not just with the on-air personalities, but their producers, who were outraged at the treatment that their friends were being subjected to. That was the low point of Clinton's first term in terms of media relations, and it wasn't until the Democrats were at risk of losing the congress that the media came back to them.

This doesn't mean that the entire media will turn on Obama, or that those who do will stay angry (although given the vindictiveness that Obama brings to dissenters, I suspect that he's going to make the mistake of antagonizing them further, rather than trying to make nice), but it is a window of opportunity for conservatives to hammer the message that Obama and his administration have a totalitarian impulse that goes far beyond anything seen in a Republican administration.

In the end it doesn't matter. The MSM when push comes to shove will still walk lock step with this administration and the rest of the fascist party.
The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.
