The Alawi are a very small minority in Syria, but they run the country, so it was the equivalent of asking a Boer about Apartheid, except that the Boer would have been more upfront about his agenda.

The world is full of smart people who do dumb things when they are out of their field of expertise. Swann was suckered, and Molon Labe only cites him because he provides the Buchananite line. Note that at no time has ML actually addressed any of my arguments, he's just throwing out invective.
Better than limiting oneself to the simpltonian 3 COA in the MDMP. One should learn after years in the military the limitations of such. World Politics does not equal Military strategy planning. T.G.

If that is what passes for "thought" in your view, no wonder you think that you're holding your own in this thread.

Actually, it pretty much does, which is why so many of our leaders suck at it. They assume that diplomatic relations can be "reset" or that nations don't have competing and conflicting interests. The basic underlying motivation for diplomacy is the threat of what happens when it breaks down. If a nation lacks motivation for war, it will behave diplomatically, but if it seeks war, it will not. Iran wants war. We don't, and because we don't, many of us deny the obvious facts of their belligerence. This appears to be the basis of your position, to the extent that you can be said to have one, since you've not made any arguments beyond incoherent flames. Channeling your inner Gator may make you feel good, but to the rest of us, it smacks of desperation. But, since you object to COA3, feel free to present your analysis of the COAs, or provide a fourth. Provide your facts and assumptions, and try to keep it professional. Give us a real argument, or concede. I await your strategic brilliance.
