Maher has made similar comments in the past:
ďAnd when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of ĎThe Hills Have Eyes,í thatís not sexist. Iím saying it because itís true, not because itís true of a woman.ĒNow, in all fairness, he didn't use the word "retarded" there, but he did compare Palin and her family to a group of hideously mutated cannibals. Got anything to say about that?
There seems to be no way to verify that he did this. A single blogger reported it, didn't even provide a qoute of it, just said he did it.
I'm not saying Maher didn't, he's exactly the type of ass muncher who would, but the proof of it is anything but concrete.
Their is an awful lot of detail for Ron Futrell just to have made it up and Bill Maher or no one else has stepped up defending Bill Maher saying he didn't make the joke.
The only place I can find where anyone thinks it may not have been said is here at conservative underground.
Sarah Palin's family is comical, and not because Trig is Downs, but because the whole aw shucks former beauty queen married to the fisherman and outdoorsman (or whatever he does) with the daughter who got pregnant at a most inopportune time for a family values candidate to a loser son in law who seemed destined to be making porn with Tonya Harding- I think I might have compared it to Northern Exposure and that also would not be a commentary on Trig's condition.
So we get upset when people try to be too PC in today's America but get upset and want to raise Cain when someone throws a not-so-PC comment at the direction to a conservative family?
This is America. Maher has that right. You don't have to like it.
