They are trying to equate a girl being pregnant is just as disturbing as the boy, but since boys aren't designed to be pregnant it really falls short for those whom actually think.
We had one in our office lobby when I was new, in the 80s, that had a photo of a teenaged girl holding a baby. The caption said the one on the right (the baby) will graduate from high school before the one on the left. I may have the directions mixed up, but it was a good one.
This one is so weird that it is destined to become a joke among those it is intended to reach. Sort of like WMU's "Alcohol Awareness Week". Yep, we got aware of alcohol, all right.
That one's more of a WTF than anything else. Maybe it made sense to the numbskulls who came up with it and actually knew the boy was a young teen, but especially without a height scale or any other referent or telltale, their model could be any age from a slightly-precocious 13 to a slightly-built 20, so it ends up meaning nothing to anyone else.
If you just saw the picture without reading the fine print, you'd think it was about obesity! Yep, bad messaging.
Really, really impressive use of our tax dollars in these tough times....
