Zimmerman's race was an issue when he was thought to be white, but when it came out that he was Latino, that became a problem, which the media couldn't address without negative fallout. The white-Hispanic meme drew too much ridicule for them to continue it, and acknowledging that there are racial tensions between two key Progressive constituencies is bad politics. Better to let that go by the wayside. That's not to say that the MSNBC crowd won't go berserk if the Zimmerman is acquitted, but you have to remember that it's not just the racial issue that drives this. Zimmerman represents a number of things that the left hates. He had a concealed carry permit, had been active in policing his neighborhood and was accused of having acted under the Stand Your Ground law, which also offended them. The left would love to see Zimmerman convicted, but they've gone out on a limb, and they know it.
Obama personalized this case so there is no way he's going to end up with egg on his face over this. I just have this feeling. The prosecution had far more evidence on Casey Anthony than they have on Zimmerman(I know, different municipalities/counties) and she was acquitted on all major charges. The prosecutions case against Zimmerman is so thin that you couldn't put it on a cracker(pardon the pun) but the social justice narrative will play out here.

Jawa has some very good info on their site about the case. Video of Martin at the 7-11 shortly before his death. Plus some other videos.

Thought this was the most interesting.

If this gets entered into evidence, then it destroy's the prosecution's case. Their sole remaining argument is that Zimmerman started the confrontation, and that if he hadn't followed Trayvon, there would not have been a fight, but Trayvon was safely at home and doubled back to confront Zimmerman and then attacked him. This shows that Trayvon had the intent to instigate the assault.

Irrelevant IMO. Knowing the SYG law or not, Martin was pounding his head into the cement. Nothing changes that fact and so far it hasn't been proven false.

As I understand the angle the Prosecutor was going for, was that Zimmerman stated he didn't know about Florida's self defense laws, but 2 years earlier he'd taken a class in criminal justice that covered that. He's trying to establish that if he lied to the police on that, he could have lied on other things.
In most sports, cold-cocking an opposing player repeatedly in the face with a series of gigantic Slovakian uppercuts would get you a multi-game suspension without pay.

In hockey, it means you have to sit in the penalty box for five minutes.

They would have to prove that SYG was covered in class and unless someone has recordings of the lectures, that might be tough to prove. Remember, college professors are mostly liberal and guns and self defense aren't exactly high on their to do list.

Except this Professor was an Army Captain, who serves as a JAG.

I'm not saying Z lied, it's possible that it is data that he did dump. That's just the angle that the Prosecution was going after.

Hilarious Skype Bombing Brings Halt To Witness Testimony In George Zimmerman Trial

As a witness in the George Zimmerman murder trial testified this morning via Skype, pranksters watching the case bombarded the man’s account with calls, forcing the judge to interrupt the man’s testimony.

As seen in the above video, Scott Pleasants, a criminal justice professor at Seminole State College, was testifying about Zimmerman taking a criminal investigation course in mid-2011 when the Skype meltdown occurred.

Pleasants, who was in Colorado, was about two minutes into his testimony when a steady barrage of incoming call boxes began popping up on the Skype screen. Each call was accompanied by a loud “pinging” sound. It appears that Pleasants's username was visible on the screen, prompting the troll patrol to muster.

“I gotta tell you, there’s now a really good chance that we’re being toyed with,” remarked Zimmerman lawyer Mark O’Mara (who can be seen alongside prosecutor Richard Mantei in the Skype window’s bottom right corner).

At one point, four separate incoming call boxes were stacked on the screen, covering Pleasants from view (as seen below). As a giggling Pleasants tried desperately to decline the calls, Judge Debra Nelson ordered lawyers to “hang up the phone.” She added, “I don’t want those up on the screen.”

Pleasants eventually resumed his testimony via a cell phone connection.

The witness's presentation by the prosecution was a disaster. They broadcast this guys Skype ID on live tv and this is the result.

What a circus the prosecution is turning out to be. And the video is pretty funny too ... as you can see that the judge seems to have no idea how Skype works.
